Sometimes I spend my free time researching the meaning of various names. Thus, it should be no surprise that I often think about what to name our children one day. I even have a list on my computer with names that I like and their meanings. I really am a nerd.\u00a0(Family, don&#8217;t get any ideas. I am currently going to school! We are not planning on kids in the near future.)\u00a0Anyways, this brings me to my point\/rant. Why do people give dogs people names?\u00a0Growing up we had two dogs, Sunset &amp; Midnight. I have never met a person named Sunset or Midnight.\u00a0Why\u00a0does this bother me, you ask? I\u00a0have reached an age where most of my friends are married\u00a0and having kids.\u00a0And that has me thinking,\u00a0&#8220;How would\u00a0I feel if\u00a0someone close to\u00a0me decided to give\u00a0their pet a name I really wanted to use as a\u00a0name\u00a0for a\u00a0child? Would\u00a0I still\u00a0want to give\u00a0my child that name?&#8221; Maybe\u00a0it&#8217;s just me, but I don&#8217;t think\u00a0I could\u00a0give my child that name\u00a0knowing a pet he or she would encounter regularly had the same name.\u00a0Now I know most of the world doesn&#8217;t agree with me, and I&#8217;m ok with that.\u00a0I promise not to judge you if you\u00a0give your dog (or cat) a people name (because I admit it, some of them are really cute).\u00a0All I&#8217;m asking for is a little sensitivity for those of us to do care. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_33\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-33  \" title=\"Sunset\" src=\"http:\/\/www.profoundmystery.com\/notesofalifesong\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2010\/05\/sunset-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Sunset\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/profoundmystery.com\/notesofalifesong\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2010\/05\/sunset-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/profoundmystery.com\/notesofalifesong\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2010\/05\/sunset.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-33\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cute Sunset.
