A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson was the first book I read on my book a week challenge. This book actually came into my reading list as an interruption. Usually books are one of the main things that distract me from reading. I can’t seem to focus. There is a reason that we put blinders on a plow horse. The minute I started reading this book I enjoyed it.
On the ease to read scale (wind through a hammock being a 1 to impossible being a 10) it was a 2. This book also falls into one of my favorite categories and that is a page turner. The story is funny and quickly paced.
A Walk in the Woods is a guy’s journey down the Appalachian Trail. Bryson’s story telling ability is what makes this book it has a folk tale feel. You will laugh so hard that you will cry if you read this book.
This isn’t a travel book and it’s not a mountaineering epic instead this is a quirky statement on real people having an outrageous time outside. I highly recommend it.
If this post seems boring I am sorry. I read the book a while ago and I don’t want to give away the funnies. I will continue writing poorly until my writing becomes better. I am told improvement happens through repetition.
